MAUD KHH College
MAUD KHH College
Building concept:
The design of the new multi-purpose hall for National Feng Shan Senior High School will continue the current historical layout of the school and become the new entrance building. The initial design concept derives from the existing surrounding condition, a 40-feet wide road with two rows of tall palm trees. The head of the school identified those trees as one of the most memorable elements for the students and staff in over 30 years. The building intersects the road to host those trees and, at the same time, enhance the vertical reading of the school gateway.
The project is completed through rigorous design investigation, using quantitative analysis and precedent research to help inform design decisions that reduce energy use, water waste, and solar exposure. The main vertical circulation is located near the entrance and behind the louvres; it allows natural ventilation and creates a strong vertical reading to the public.
