Light of Eli
Light of Eli
Light of Eli was customized for a luxury private home in the heart of Taipei city. The brief set was to design a light shade for a residential setting that would be one of kind. Its use of wood as the material complements the wood-based interior design of the home. The design was inspired by the light and shadow effect of the vivid Taipei city. Its overall organic form, chosen out of 32 3D-printed models, is the result of an extensive study on light effects. The final form was chosen for its stability and delicate character to reflect the Michelin-style food served on the dining table. The form of this furniture gives the user a consistent experience and becomes a sculpture piece in the house.
Light of Eli comprises just over 300 pieces of laser cut timber strips. This waffle structure creates a lightweight and semi-transparent lighting effect for the dining room.
